Thai Authorities Search for Two Polish Suspects Who Tortured a Cambodian Woman in Thailand

Thailand: A Cambodian woman who works as a painter was set up by a woman who contacted her online to decorate a new store that was going to open in Pattaya, Thailand.

When she showed up at the agreed location in early November 2022, she was viciously assaulted by two Polish men.

On November 16, 2022, Ny Sreyroth, the victim, a 30-year-old Cambodian woman, went to the Cambodian Embassy in Thailand to file a complaint for her safety intervention, claiming that she had been cruelly tortured by being slashed with a knife and having acid poured on her.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Cambodian Embassy in Thailand forwarded it to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to a report from the Cambodian Embassy in Thailand, the Thai police are now investigating the incident and assuring the victim's safety.

According to the report, the perpetrators contacted her while she was receiving treatment in Thailand to threaten her, her friends, and her family living in Cambodia. Concerned about the safety of her family in Cambodia, she requested intervention from the Cambodian government to ensure her family's safety.

Regarding to the case, a spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, Mr. Chum Sounry, confirmed by telegram to EAC News on the evening of December 16 that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia has coordinated with the Cambodian authorities to resolve this issue.

The Cambodian Embassy in Thailand is also coordinating with Thai authorities to resolve the case. "The ministry has received a report from the Cambodian embassy in Thailand about the case of a Cambodian woman named Ny Sreyroth, and the Cambodian embassy is working with the authorities to resolve it," he said.

According to a report sent by the Cambodian Embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the female victim works as a painter for Film Fixers Southeast Asia, which produces films on environmental, tourism, and social issues and works for an Australian producer named Michael Phillip O’Shea.

The company has recently started producing films related to the mafia in Pattaya, Thailand. Therefore, the Thai police suspect that this case may be related to the mafia gang or may be the work of the producer Michael Phillip O’Shea's ex-wife, with whom he just split up with.

However, according to the Bangkok Post published on December 10, 2022, in an interview with the ex-wife of producer Michael Phillip O’Shea, she denied knowing the two Polish men. She told Thai media that she did not know exactly what her ex-husband and the victim were doing, claiming there was no reason for her to commit such a crime.
